DUAL MASTER-CYLINDER INSTALL This upgrade is a no-brainer. With your single reservoir master cylinder once you lose a brake line or hose you've lost all your brakes and the emergency brakes in these cars are pretty much useless in stopping your classic. I chose a 1967 Fairlane dual master cylinder for a car with 4 wheel drum brakes. It was cheap, easy to find and it came with the appropriate push-rod for the brake pedal. This master cylinder is a direct bolt in in the 62-63 Meteor. This pic is not from my car, but its plumbed the same. The rear brakes should be hooked to the front port and the front brakes should be hooked to the rear port. You will need a "T" to split the lines for your front brakes as seen in the picture. You rear brakes pretty much stay the same, you can plumb into your old line for the rear. You will also need a "T" for your brake light switch. This should be plumbed into the rear (front brake) port as close to the master cylinder as possible as above in the picture. Plumb it up, check your connections to be sure they're tight, bleed the brakes and you should feel safer on your next road trip. Click the links below for: |
