Current Specs - Ben is the 2nd owner ( he inherited from his grandparents), and it's all original.  He's had the car since 1993, and the transmission was rebuilt several years ago.  Sadly, the car has been sitting in storage for a few years, as the motor needs a rebuild (burning water). Plans are to restore this car, with minor mod's to make it more fun to drive. The car also needs some body work; both bumpers need straightening / re-chroming, and the car needs new paint.  Front seat needs refurbishing too.  bjrstudios@gearhedz.com

Car #9 - registered February 7th, 2004: Neil Carfra
Victoria, BC, Canada. 1963 Meteor Custom Hard-top, Built at the Kansas plant,  USA, Factory Specs- Serial#: 3K43F519639  Body
65A – 2-door Custom Hard-top Paint code: X Black Cherry (Metallic) Trim code: 76 -?  Engine: F - 260 cid 8 cylinder  Axle code:  1 - 3.00:1, DSO code:  54 - Seattle

Current Specs - Although repainted in the past, it’s still in the factory color. Its drive-train is a mid-1980s 5.0L from a Mustang mated to a cop car 4spd auto transmission. It has disk brakes up front and a few other nice features. Neil's owned it since the summer of 2002 having found it offered for sale on E-bay. He love's driving it and his five year old told him that the only thing that would make it cooler would be to have a bat mouth on the front. So far, he has resisted adding that! ncarfra@shaw.ca

Car #10 -  registered February 8th, 2004: David Buss - Spokane, Washington, USA. 1963 Meteor Custom S-33, Built at the Kansas plant, USA, Factory Specs - Serial#: 3K47F508821 Body 65B – Meteor Custom S-33 Paint code: M Sultana White Trim code: 55 Red Engine: F - 260 cid 8 cylinder  Axle code: 4 - 3.25:1, DSO code:  51 - Denver Trans code: 1- 3 speed manual Production Date:  21L  November 21st, 1963

Current Specs -  The car is in OK mechanical shape. Dave is working on a few problems. The 260 V8 engine runs. He will be replacing all the brake cylinders this spring. There is very little rust, need to replace the right rear floor panel. It needs a lot of little things but it also needs paint and a new  interior. It hasn't been outside for a couple of years as its a work in progress. metro1@ispwest.com

Car #11 - registered February 9th, 2004: Jill Kemper - Burbank, Ohio, USA. 1962 Meteor Custom 2dr , Built at the Dearborn plant, USA, Factory Specs - Serial#: 2F411536368 Body 62A – Meteor Custom 2dr Paint code: A Presidential Black Trim code: 15 Red vinyl with Black lexington cloth interior Engine: L - 221 cid 8 cylinder  Axle code: 4 - 3.25:1, DSO code:  14 - Pittsburgh Trans code: 3 - 2 speed auto Production Date: 07F - June 7th, 1962

Current Specs -  The car is solid black with original red/black interior (excellent condition) and white vinyl headliner.  The glass is also all original and perfect.  Mileage as of today is 58,000. Jill is 23 years old and this car is her first classic car. She bought the Meteor in May 2003 at the Canfield Swap Meet, Canfield OH. The previous owner had rebuilt the original stock 221 V8, brakes, etc. The only major modifications have been the new Flow-master mufflers (it sounds excellent!), new carb, and the "guts" of the original AM radio had been removed.  Since acquiring it she's repainted the trunk lid and installed mirrors on both sides of the car.  Her future plans are for a new radio of course, tinted glass, and to get that darn fuel gauge functioning. RootBeerFloattt@aol.com

Car #12 - registered February 20th, 2004: Dan Browning - New Jersey,  USA. 1962 Meteor Custom S-33 , Built at the Dearborn plant, USA, Factory Specs - Serial#: 2F47L530720  Body 62C – Meteor Custom S-33 Paint code: M Sultana White Trim code: 54 light beige metallic - pearl beige  Engine: L - 221 cid 8 cylinder  Axle code: 4 - 3.25:1, DSO code:  13 - New York Trans code: 3 - 2 speed auto Production Date: 02E - May 2nd, 1962

Current Specs - The car is in pretty good shape, the upholstery was redone I believe to the original condition. The outside is two tone- white and turquoise and the interior to match. Needs chrome to be redone and a few surface rust repairs. I believe the car was repainted at some point.  What is a ball park figure to what these cars are worth, I need to give my insurance company an estimate to insure it.  It is not a trailer queen show car but it is far from a total restoration car. dan.browning@juno.com

Current Specs - The car has bucket seats and a console. It has a stock 260-V8 with a factory 4-speed and dual exhaust. The car is bone stock right down to the tri-colored hubcaps and the AM radio. The only alterations are a detailed engine and traction bars. bertk1@msn.com

Car #18registered April 3rd, 2004: Ed Rizzo - USA. 1963 Meteor 2 door Custom Hard-top, Built at the Dearborn plant, USA, Factory Specs - Serial#: 3F43F524737  Body 65A – 2 door Custom Hard-top Paint code: L Castilian gold Trim code: 78? Engine: F - 260 cid 8 cylinder Axle code:  3 - 3.20:1, DSO code: 16 ? Trans code: 1 - 3 speed manual Production Date: 18D - April 18th, 1963

Current Specs - Now that Ed has had a chance to really look at the car, it turns out that it has a 289 for power not a 260. So somewhere in it's life, the 260 went away and a 289 found it's way into the engine bay. azzoo14@att.net

Car #19registered April 3rd, 2004: Arie Hofstee - Canada. 1963 Meteor Custom S-33, Built at the Kansas plant, USA, Factory Specs - Serial#: 3K47F516949  Body 65B – 1963 Meteor Custom S-33 Paint code: A Presidential Black Trim code: 55 Red Engine: F - 260 cid 8 cylinder Axle code:  1 - 3.00:1, DSO code: 26 Washington Trans code: 3 - 2 speed auto Production Date: 15E - May 15th, 1963

Current Specs - The car is still black with a red interior. It has the 260 which is bored .040 over and has a 1965 comet 4 barrel intake on it. The car came with power steering. Arie adapted a power brake unit from a Geo Storm for use on the Meteor, the proportioning valve was used and a extra brake line was run to the rear wheels so that it has a dual braking system. Front has disc brake set up from a 68 Torino, the spindles bolted right on and braking ability is excellent. The car came from Arkansas  4 years ago, and was just finished last year. The interior had to be done completely as all upholstery was just dust. The car is not a show car just a cruiser for the family. ariehof@rogers.com

Car #20registered April 6th, 2004: Tom Goodman - USA. 1963 Meteor Custom 4 door sedan, Built at the Kansas plant, USA, Factory Specs - Serial#: 3K42F502032 Body 54B 1963 Meteor Custom 4 door sedan Paint code: M Sultana White Trim code: 74? Red Engine: F - 260 cid 8 cylinder Axle code:  1 - 3.00:1, DSO code: 41 Chicago Trans code: 3 -  2 speed auto Production Date: 19J - Sept 19th, 1963

Current Specs - The car is still original, never been repainted. It is very plain, no radio, no power steering, no backup lights, no mirrors, nothing except a heater. It did have an add-on engine block heater that was leaking so it was removed. Tom purchased the car in 2003 from the original owner (she was in her 90s). It cost more to ship the car from Superior, Nebraska, to Maryland than what he paid for it. The car was in storage for 28 years, last registered in 1975. The car is in fairly decent shape, some sun fading in the interior, minor rust on the right rear quarter panel, saggy springs, and the never-ending saga of gasket replacements and fixing things that get broke while making repairs. tgfathergoose@aol.com

Car #21registered June 7th, 2004: Dan Olson - USA. 1962 Meteor Custom 2 door sedan, Built at the Kansas plant, USA, Factory Specs - Serial#: 2K41L511712 Body 62B 1963 Meteor Custom 4 door sedan Paint code: T Champagne Trim code: 14  Lt beige Met vinyl - Med beige Lexington B/C Engine: L - 221 cid 8 cylinder Axle code:  5 - 3.50:1, DSO code: ? Trans code: 3 - 2 speed auto Production Date: 13M December 13, 1962

Current Specs - This was Dan's first meteor, he recently replaced the weak 221 with a 1964 260 V8, only to find that for some reason I didn't have compression on all cylinders. He's planning to have the 221 rebuilt and get it re-installed. The car now has dual exhaust and Ford electronic ignition.  It has been repainted a beige metallic. dano@agora.rdrop.com

Car #22registered June 7th, 2004: Dan Olson - USA. 1962 Meteor Custom 4 door sedan, Built at the Kansas plant, USA, Factory Specs - Serial#: 2K42F525806  Body 54B 1962 Meteor Custom 2 door sedan Paint code: T Champagne Trim code: 74? Car #23registered June 7th, 2004: Dan Olson - USA. 1962 Meteor Custom 4 door sedan, Built at the Kansas plant, USA, Factory Specs - Serial#: 2K47F520930, 2K32F523941  Body 62A Meteor Custom 2dr Paint code: A Presidential Black Trim code: 55 White and Red crush vinyl Engine: F - 260 cid 8 cylinder Axle code:  4 - 3.25:1, DSO code: Trans code: 3 - 2 speed auto Production Date: 27B

Current Specs - This is a strange one.  It was sold to Dan as an S33 and looks to have the original bucket seats and console. The front was wrecked and the second VIN, from a 4 door, is the one currently on the inner fender. The first VIN was on the back of the door panel. This car currently has a 351W and 3 speed, but the motor will be swapped as it has no motor mounts! This car originally had a 260 and was presidential
black, though is now painted red. It also has the optional backup lights and power steering.

Trans code: 3 - 2 speed auto Production Date: ?

Current Specs - This is a 4 door sedan in cherry red with a 221 V8, but is now painted flat black. The top apparently had been damaged and was cut off, making it a rare '62 Meteor convertible. It will soon become a parts car.  dano@agora.rdrop.com

Current Specs - Randy updated the brakes and steering on the car to 11" power disc brakes and power steering out of a 1978 Mercury Monarch except for the power brake booster and master cylinder which are out of a 1989 Pontiac lemans. It sure drives and stops nice. Currently the car has been totally restored from the ground up. Everything was stripped to bare metal. It is now painted Emerald green pearl metallic, the interior is white leather with emerald cloth inserts in the front and back seats, door panels are white leather with emerald green leather rolled, and green carpet and white headliner. the engine and transmission are original but freshened up. The interior will go black and white. efloen@cimarrongroup.com

Car #29registered August 13th, 2004: Thayne Louden, Fullerton, Nebraska - USA. 1963 Meteor Custom 2dr hardtop, Built at the Kansas plant, USA, Factory Specs - Serial#: 3K43E518001 Body 65A 1963 Custom 2 door hardtop Paint code: W Pink Frost Trim code: 76? Engine: F - 260 cid 8 cylinder Axle code:  1 - 3.00:1, DSO code: 53 Oakland Trans code: 3 - 2 speed auto Production Date: 12F - June 12th, 1963

Current Specs -
This is a one-owner car with 86,500 original miles.  Thayne has the third title - the second title was issued in 1975 to the (widow) of the original purchaser.  He found the car on Ebay, at a brokerage in Redwood City, CA.  The description was VERY detailed, and the car was available for a "Buy It Now" bid of $2500.00!  It has the 260 V-8 with the 2 speed auto transmission. It apparently hadn't been driven a lot in recent years. The differential grease was "clotted", and the oil pressure was very low. He has only driven the car a bit over 300 miles since he received it on July 3rd, 2004 and he is noticing improvements every time he starts the engine. He had to immediately replace the starter - it jammed and will be rebuilding the power steering control valve, which is "sloppy" and won't adjust out. He has installed a CD/AM/FM stereo under the dash - the original radio works fine, but is inoperable because the antenna and speaker have been disconnected.  dldance1@hamilton.net

Current Specs - Marcia has owned the car for 4 years after buying it at an auction from a bankrupt car museum. The car has 129,000 original miles and she drives it to events all over Manitoba and the northern US. Since the fall of 2004 Marcia and the guys in her car club have spent some time making it into the dream ride she always wanted. Stripped to bare metal and redone with some new metal and lead (it needed very little of either) and a killer paint job of PPG Amber Fire metallic, the car turns heads wherever she goes. The original 221 was swapped out with a 302 running Speed-Pro pistons, cam, lifters other niceties with Hooker Super-Comp headers, 600 Holley, hi-rise alum intake and a solid C-4 auto. The car rolls on 14x7 100 spoke Tru-Wire rims with 3 bar knock-offs and new rubber. She attends car shows and cruz nites weekly in the summer and has a few prizes to show for her work. For Christmas 05 she got a new MSD billet distributor, coil and some roller rockers that’ll be installed before the 06 season starts. She loves her Meteor and especially the attention it gets because of its rarity. Her favorite story and picture is of her and the Meteor when Dennis Gage of My Classic Car spotted it at a show and came over to talk to her. mgalvin99@yahoo.com

Dan had honestly never heard of a Mercury Meteor until November 2004, he found a classified ad on the internet under "Cars.com" when searching for a 1962 automobile. Current Specs - He acquired the car in 1983 from his dad who had purchased it for $50. The car has been restored for several years, it has been painted 1991 Buick Riviera pearl white, the old interior was removed and replaced with 1963 Fairlane Sport Coupe bucket seats and console with an auto shifter. The interior is now maroon, the seats are vinyl with a cloth center on lower and upper cushion. It has a full set of gauges, the steering column is a tilt column from a 1979 El Camino SS, with a Camaro RS steering wheel. The outside of the car has pretty much all of the chrome removed and the holes filled. The front bumper has been re-chromed, as well as the taillight buckets, rear upper sail panel trim, fender badges, and ornaments atop the front fenders. The hood has a fiberglass teardrop scoop mounted on it, with the bottom of the hood cut open to add ram air, someday. The outside rearview mirrors are from a 1974 Pontiac Grand Prix and are manual remote. The gas tank has been replaced with 22 gallon fuel cell mounted in the trunk floor in an aluminum well for safety, because the cell protrudes through the floor about 8 inches. The trunk floor is covered with thin plywood along with the trunk sides and carpeted with the same color and kind of carpet as the interior of the vehicle. The engine is a 1971 351w from a Ford Ltd and transmission is a C4 from a 1968 Torino with a shift kit. The engine is slightly modified with an Edelbrock 600 carb, Performer manifold, duraspark distributor, GM HEI module and ACCEL super coil. The car runs very strong. The wheels are chrome GT wheels from a 1968 Torino and the tires are 235-60-15 Goodyear Eagle ST. Future plans are to install rack and pinion steering along with front disc brakes and a new rear-end with disc brakes. As it sits the vehicle has 59,000 original miles.  SHANDSHRACING@aol.com

Current Specs - Rich purchased his meteor in September 2004. From the information he could get, he believe's he's the 4th owner. The car is the original paint, with 78,000 miles. It has the original 260-V8, but was modified with a 4-barrel Edelbrock carburetor. The previous owner chromed a good portion of the engine compartment as you can see from the pictures. The car is a definite head turner at the few shows he's attended. The great thing with this purchase was that the owner gave him  duplicate parts from another meteor which included a complete set of every chrome part on the car including grill, taillights, light housings, side and body mouldings. He also has an air conditioning unit from the other car, which if all goes well he'll install by July. He's just enjoying the hell out of it.  OAKMAN818@aol.com

Current Specs -  The Car was sitting for over 20 years in a barn/warehouse. The owner was 72 years old and was selling some of his old Fords. It's a clean car, everything is there. It has power steering and a heater. Interior is clean and original. All the chrome/moulding's are on the car. Some of it has dings, but all there. Mouldings do need to be polished. It could use a re-spray from the mouldings down. It also needs the front floor boards fixed. Will probably leave alone with the 260 and keep it looking stock for car shows. Has Ford hubcaps on it. Will put some beauty rings on the rims and some fat rubber out back. Still original 14" rims. Can't believe how HUGE the trunk is. fordlvr@earthlink.net

Current Specs -  This car was purchased by  Dad in '66 (with Mom's $) for $180 USD. It was wrecked and left for dead by the drunken original owner. Dad's plan was to fix it up and sell it for a buck. Well, he fixed it up all right, then he drove it. The end! The car never saw rain or snow again. It did, however, find a deer one night. Dad, disgusted, parked it for a while, until he felt like re-repairing the front end. I remember as a child, seeing the bent up grill and headlight bezels up on the wall of the barn, right next to the medium sized antlers that were the cause for their damage. That was in '71, the car still has the same paint he put on it, and though it still looks good, ( I call it a 20 footer) it could use a restoration. It's all still bone stock. The old 260 couldn't run any better, no ticks, no knocks or anything of the sort, no use of oil. The only thing ever done to the engine was a timing chain, and I think it's on it's 3'rd carb. The car now enjoys an easy life in the country, trips to the hardware or auto parts store, and a couple of car shows each year, The ole' girl still gets looks! It has 149,000 miles on the odometer, It had 32,000 miles in '66.  Robbydob73@aol.com

Current Specs - From what I know the car is originally out of West Virginia. We found it north of Pittsburgh and bargained him down to $700. It's an extremely solid '62 that has a few areas on the body needing TLC. Has a new gas tank, new heater core, power steering, four new 14" tires on original rims, perfect glass, original red and white vinyl interior that's in good shape. The silver painted bumpers are the only disappointment. He's giving us the 221 V8 that is a-ok but the goal for the Merc is speed this time around so that's being pulled. A more hot rodded version from the stripped and smoothed look of no stainless steel trim, badges or emblems, Crager wheels, etc, is the goal here. The first step will be throwing it into some gray primer but keeping the white roof w/ red pin-stripping to accent. RootBeerFloattt@aol.com

Vehicle sat in the garage until 2004 (15yrs).  We hauled it out of the garage and within 5 minutes, had it RUNNING AGAIN!!!!!! Can you believe it??? Our long lost love has returned. It is all original, repainted through the local technical high school using the original paint and color. It drives like a charm, got quite a bit of notice at a local Cruise In. Current Specs - This car was the first car I ever owned, and I'm proud to say I still do. I'm the third owner of the car, having bought it from my uncle, who purchased it from his mother-in-law, the original owner.  My uncle installed the 289 and C-4 the car sports now.  When I was 18 I bought some other cars, and the Merc fell to a back-up role.  I moved to North Carolina 9 years ago, and when my dad finally hauled the car out to me from Colorado it had been sitting unprotected for almost 8 years.  Fortunately, the dry Colorado climate had been kind to the car, and it is as as solid as ever. I'm going to keep the 289 4bbl and the C-4, which only seem to need some TLC. Right now, the car needs to be wired, the front end rebuilt with the disc brake conversion, and the interior redone, so it will be street-worthy. AvalancheFan@carolina.rr.com

I'm going to do a full restomod, out with the 170ci and in with a hot 289 and a top loader 4 speed. The car will get front disc brakes and a 9-inch rearend, the car will be a street rod. all mod's will be to run the la carrera

Current Specs - I pulled the car out of the local junkyard for $350 (scrap price) where it sat since 1989. I found the registration card dated 1989, and contacted the previous owners. I asked them to apply for a lost title, and they agreed. The car came from Arizona, to Colorado, to Northeastern Minnesota. Despite sitting in the snow and sun for years, it's in really great shape. If the 221 won't work, I have a 351w and C4 at my disposal. havi70@frontiernet.net

The car was rough- very rough but 100% complete.  On or around March 1st, 2007 a 100% ground up restoration to the original condition will be completed (it's taken 2 Years ). The only change made was to add dual exhaust with Magna Flow mufflers. Sounds sweet..... greeneharry@hotmail.com

Current Specs - It’s a white two door sedan with Tan/Cream Interior, needs to be cleaned (and repaired in several spots), but I haven’t decided yet what will it will be when I finish. Moderate rust and body damage, especially to the right front fender and grille. Dash looks great though, doors are solid, and it has almost all of the original chrome/trim.  It’s also missing everything that makes it go. I found a 1967 Fairlane with a 289 2bbl. with C-4 auto transmission that I can pull, and I’m looking to do a front disk brake conversion. lyndseyloo63@hotmail.com

Current Specs - Bought this 63 a year ago from a chap that had stripped the interior and realized he was in over his head for mechanics and body work. This guy had it sitting like that for about 7 years. I now have the body finished (replaced rear quarters and front fenders), the undercarriage done and ready for high build primer then paint. Going to a 94 GM color Dark Cherry Red. Looks fantastic with all the chrome Next order of business is building up a 260 out of a 63 4 door I have and staying with the 2 speed auto.  Still looking for a Granada/Monarch to do the brake change over.
